Valla's humanistic philosophy criticized the sterility of scholastic logical distinctions and tried to synthesize Christian principles with Stoic and Epicurean thought. In De libero arbitratio (Of Free Choice) Valla noted the incompatibility of divine omnipotence with human freedom.
